ResearchID.org:Theoria and Praxis
From ResearchID.org
Classification Methodology
The word Theoria is Greek for 'contemplation' or 'speculative thought'. Praxis is also a Greek word which means 'action' or 'doing'. A research application designated Theoria is one that would be geared towards 'book' research and writing hypothetically. An application assigned as Praxis would be more concerned with empirical investigation or lab research. Of course, all empirical research is some combination of both experimental and hypothetical work. These categories are a way for ResearchID.org to categorize the applications and make them easier to browse.
"Good praxis requires good theoria." This phrase of ancient Greek wisdom is applicable to all human activity. In the natural sciences, this is why someone doing lab research will study and train for years before publishing an experiment. Theoretical and logical underpinnings must be firmly understood before proceeding to practical lab applications.
Here at ResearchID.org, we would like to produce great Theoria articles, so that we can also generate clear and precise Praxis articles.
