Old business
What is pre-packaged maintenance?
Sysops
What do administrators do?
- keep researchers on track
- help clean up pages if we get spammed (ID-haters are the only people who have done this in the past)
What can Sysops do?
- Sysops can protect/unprotect pages
- revert/rollback pages
- delete/undelete pages
- block/unblock users
- make sql read-only queries
What is expected of Sysops? Mainly, to contribute thought-fully to ResearchID.org. The only obligation is that you faithfully uphold the mission and standards of the site. Help when you like and don't help when you don't like. No specific number of edits you have to make, no requirements of checking on the site a certain numbers of times per week. A general rule is do not let the site interfere with studies or work, but that's common sense stuff.
The webmaster is carefully tweaking the site in such a way that administrators do not get bogged down with enforcement, which sometimes has the unwanted result of having less time to do productive research and helpful contributions.
