Reorganization suggestions
Geochemistry does not seem to be the best category for "The Cambrian Explosion" and "Privileged Planet". Recommend Paleontology for "The Cambrian Explosion." Possibly Abiotic Origin Theories for Privileged Planet. -- David L. Hagen
- David, thanks for the suggestions. While geochemistry does not at first appear relevant, after careful reflection about all that is relevant to the study, the associations become clearer.
- The Cambrian explosion does indeed relate directly to ancient biological diversity, yet, simultaneously, the chemistry of the ancient earth is invoked in a thorough investigation of this mass biological proliferation. (Follow the Cambrex link above to see that it is already in the Paleontology category.)
- Unlike the Cambrex, which is a somewhat loose fit for geochem, the Privileged Planet hypothesis is a perfect fit for geochemistry. This is because many of the PP's observations of "rare conditions" are directly related to the chemistry of the earth, such as ice cores, carbon dating, paleomagnetic layers in the ocean floor, tree rings, etc. -- Joseph C.
